Reem’s Kitchen was born out of a deep love for Palestinian cuisine and a desire to share the rich traditions and high-quality foods of the owner’s heritage. Food has always been a way to bring people together, and Reem’s Kitchen wants to create a catering business that not only serves authentic dishes but also tells a story with every bite.

“Meet the Team Behind Reem’s Kitchen

Reem’s Kitchen is a family-owned brand that offers something more than just food. At the center is Reem Ghabboun, a self-taught chef who turned her passion for Middle Eastern cooking into something much bigger. With her son Ahmed Jarakji and her husband Mohammad Awad by her side, they built Reem’s Kitchen from the ground up. The goal isn’t just to serve good food, it’s to build something unforgettable. A brand people feel, remember, and come back to not just for the taste, but the story behind it.

Reem Ghabboun – Executive Chef
The heart and soul behind Reem’s Kitchen. Reem is a self-taught chef with a natural talent for creating food that connects. What started as her cooking for family turned into full spreads at weddings, pop-ups, and community events. Her food hits different, not just because it tastes amazing, but because it feels like home. Every dish is rooted in tradition, made with love, and served with soul. Reem is the reason Reem’s Kitchen exists, her cooking is the magic behind it all.

Ahmed Jarakji – Creative Director & Head of Brand
The visionary behind the brand. Ahmed leads everything from marketing and content to branding, storytelling, and strategy. Making sure every detail reflects the heart of Reem’s Kitchen. His focus isn’t just on how the brand looks today, but where it’s headed. Reem brings the flavor, Ahmed brings the vision.

Mohammad Awad – Director of Operations
The engine behind the scenes. Mohammad handles logistics, event coordination, and day-to-day execution. With a hands-on approach and sharp problem-solving instincts, he keeps things running smoothly when it matters most. His reliability and flexibility make him an essential part of the team’s foundation

Loumpia is a minority-owned, Filipino American food business founded by Lou in 2024, with a mission to bring authentic, contemporary lumpia to Seattle, while giving back to the Philippines. 5% of profits go toward providing essential medicine to those in need in the province of Nueva Ecija, the founder’s family’s hometown.

The journey to Loumpia began in October 2023, when Lou left behind a successful career in biotech to explore the rich and diverse world of lumpia. Over the next seven months, he traveled from Seattle to the Philippines, tasting countless variations of lumpia to fully understand its cultural roots and modern interpretations. What emerged from this deep dive was an entirely new approach to the beloved dish—one that honors traditional flavors while reflecting the immigrant story of lumpia in America.

As a former biochemist, Lou approached recipe development with a meticulous and scientific mindset. He researched every ingredient carefully and even developed a signature oyster sauce, though it ultimately didn’t make its way into the final recipes. Working with a variety of tasters, Lou dialed in each lumpia recipe to ensure the best possible balance of flavor and authenticity. After months of testing, Lou curated a menu featuring seven core lumpia varieties: Shanghai, Dynamite, Kikiam, Turon, Togue, Fried Sariwa (a cherished family recipe from Lou’s mother), and Beef Lumpia (a special recipe passed down from Lou’s godmother). These varieties reflect the best of both traditional and contemporary lumpia, showcasing the diverse and delicious range of flavors that Lou encountered in his travels.

In true biochemist fashion, Lou also offers a rotating monthly special, each with a unique story behind it, keeping the menu fresh, creative, and ever-evolving.

The name Loumpia is a playful twist on the founder’s name, Lou, and the Filipino dish lumpia, symbolizing Lou’s personal connection to the business and his deep-rooted commitment to bringing something truly authentic to the community. At Loumpia, food is more than just a meal—it’s an opportunity to share culture, history, and community. With every lumpia, Lou hopes to tell a story and bring a taste of the Philippines to Seattle, all while giving back to those in need.”
